Vario Twin Squirrel

This is my Vario Squirrel G-BPRL, powered by as OS 70SZ-H engine which gives bags of power.
This is a large helicopter and it certainly looks good in the air. The mechanics are Vario Skyfox and are really smooth in operation.

Another view of the Squirrel, the retractable landing light can be clearly seen as can the Vario scale pilot. The landing light is operated by a micro switch and switched on and off by a micro switch.
I decided to give my Vario Squirrel a tidy-up and a respray.
The photos don't do the model justice but instead of using car paint aerosols I got myself an air compressor and spray gun and used two part paint and what a difference it made to the quality of the paintwork. I added the scale air-intakes at the front of the engine compartment and re-worked the intake on the front upper cowling to give a better scale appearance.

My Vario Squirrel is a copy of the full-size owned by WPD Helicopters. The decals are BECC adhesive lettering.
For a more scale effect it is better to paint the tail blades as per the full-size helicopter but do remember to re-check the balance after painting.
